We’re Coming Back!

It’s summer in Minnesota and an update is long overdue. We are in the process of making plans to return to Germany this fall of 2026. We are beginning to pencil in dates to present marriage workshops at churches there. We are also in weekly Signal calls with a core team involved in the soft launch of a Bible college near Freiburg this fall. We will share more details on this as they come into focus.

In the meantime, the book that’s lived in Calvin’s head for the past 20 years is taking shape on paper. The working title is Marriage is a Lifelong Negotiation. It turns out writing a book together is giving us plenty of fresh material on the subject! We are currently applying major edits to the third rewrite of the book. Even though the basic subject matter felt settled early on in Calvin’s mind, it turns out that I have a few opinions about which content should be included in the book and a lot of opinions on how to present said content. The approach we’ve landed on (at this point) is to tell our life story as a means of carrying the reader through the book and to expand on various teaching points where they touch the story. We hope this will make it a helpful book that is easier to read than some of the more textbook style self-help books on marriage.

In order to get him out of my hair so I can do my editor thing, I’ve sent him on two fishing trips: one to Ohio and one to Canada. I get a little space and he brings back fish—seems like a fair deal. We are planning on one trip together in August up to Lake of the Woods where I get a chance to catch my own dinner.
